Rocking Across Texas concentrates on Elvis’ spectacular career in Texas, starting in late 1954 and going through his last Texas appearance in 1977.
Two restored recordings of shows in Amarillo (1974) and Fort Worth (1976) are included as audio.
Designing this book was an honour and a pleasure. Text is limited, prioritising 200 photos of the legendary stage performer predominantly from what was to become the autumn of his life, 1970 - 1976.
On the introduction pages of the book is an example of the eroded state of some of old original images compared with the digitally restored copy (see sample images).
The concept and approach that underpins this project is to re live and recapture the phenomenon that is Elvis Presley — The King of Rock 'N’ Roll. An up close and personal exploration of one of musics most historical figures focusing on his most prolific years.
This wonderful creative opportunity was conceived, overseen and steered by Ernst Mikael Jørgensen. Mikael has researched tirelessly over many years, traveling the world and retracing the King’s steps to collect images, anecdotes and documentation to bring you one of the most comprehensive audio visual compilations ever produced.
